You Are Now at iCare

Welcome to iCare Fertility Centre (Island Hospital Centre for Assisted Reproduction Excellence).

iCare is located within Island Hospital, a leading tertiary private medical centre in Penang providing quality medical care to Malaysians and an increasingly international community. iCARE is one of the few full-fledged fertility centres in the Northern Peninsular Malaysia which can take you from successful conception through antenatal care, delivery and eventually care of the newborn and mother.

iCare is proud to be associated with the Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation (TAFF), being one of only two infertility centres in Northern Peninsular Malaysia to be on the TAFF panel. The Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation helps fund deserving couples who need advanced infertility treatment.

If you are here, it is possible that you and your partner may have been trying for a baby. If you are frustrated because you have yet to conceive, you are not alone. Infertility affects 1 in 10 couples according to a 2002 report by the World Health Organisation on 'Current Practices and Controversies in Assisted Reproduction'.

We would like to congratulate you on taking the first step towards finding a solution to your problem. Getting more information will help you deal with the fear and frustration that infertile couples often face. Start with Resources and you will find all you need to know about conception and fertility.

If you have been trying for some time, you may find feelings of anxiety replacing initial hope and anticipation. If you have already been receiving various infertility treatments without success, despair and anger may have set in. Some couples may have allowed the pressures from family members to deepen the feelings of guilt, blame and resentment. To cope with the stress, support each other as a couple, learn together, put things into perspective and recognize how your feelings are affecting your relationships. Remember, stress can affect conception. Learn how to cope with these feelings by turning the negative into positive. If you like, contact us and we will send you a free copy of 'Manage stress levels for successful conception'.

We hope you will persist on this journey. Take a long view. See the end in mind. A child of your own is worth it. Nothing can fill the emptiness like the warmth of a child and the sight and smell of a sleeping baby in your arms. Children help us live life all over again. iCare promises not to give up if you do not give up. Talk to others who have gone before you to refresh your commitment.

If you are struggling and are about to give up, why not talk to someone who has walked down this road before? We know it is difficult, but sometimes, having a friend who is in the same situation helps. Let us know and we will be happy to find you a friend from our Fertility Friends Support Group.

Success Stories

"His patience, confidence, kindness & professionalism really encouraged me. We tried a few cycles of IUI as well but weren't successful. He then introduced IVF to us in year 2002. I gave birth to our triplets through C-section. I could hear the cheers from the operating team when they saw our first princess. They are turning 3 this year. They have different personalities and looks. They bring joy and happiness to our family."

CE, Kedah

"What I thought would be almost impossible was made possible. It was a truly worthy second try for a patient like me. I delivered a 4.3kg baby boy on 25th February 2006."

PA, Sabah

Women who are age 30 and above must not wait too long before seeing a gynaecologist. It becomes increasingly urgent after 35. For women over 40 time is truly running out.
